The Godfather (4)-Great movie, confusing at times, but good. Brando didn't play as big a role in it as I thought. He was important in it, but had very few scenes.

I say we put this argument to rest, opinions aren't changing, so it is pointless. Imma have to check Nosferatu out. Did you see the silent one? I know Werner Herzog remade it. Tried to watch it once on tape, but couldn't make it. They have it on dvd in the library, so I'll probably see it soon. Deal. Yeah, I watched the silent one. It was rad.

Saw II (2) - structurally a retread of the first, stylishly a retread of the first, basically a retread of the first. A strictly money-grubbing release, which pisses me off. But, same twists and thrills as the first.
It's pretty crazy when the ambush at the fruit stand happens, I was thinking, "that's it for brando? What a tiny role."

Do the Right Thing (4) - Provocative filmmaking at it's finest. If this doesn't inspire some sort of feeling, you're a fish. The Long Goodbye (2) - decent picture, but somewhat empty. The Straight Story (4) - A slow, somewhat funny, touching film from David Lynch? I'm impressed. Red River (4) - Really good western. Solid plot, good characters, some heavy action. The Pianist (3) - decent, but an hour of Adrian Brody shuffling around destroyed houses isn't too entertaining.

Run Lola Run (4)- Awesome German flick. Kind of on the lines of Sliding Doors without the stupid chick flick plots. It get's marked down for a crappy techno-german soundtrack.

Capote (4) - Good performances, pretty decent story. The Wicker Man (3) - Decent flick, would've been better had I not known the ending. Night and the City (4) - Good noir set in London. Pretty twisty plot.

But, same twists and thrills as the first. It's pretty crazy when the ambush at the fruit stand happens, I was thinking, "that's it for brando? What a tiny role." That makes me sad!! I was looking forward to it. I thought it would be all new scary stuff. Damn. Chasing Amy (3.5) - I loved it! It was cute but I was a little disappointed that it wasn't funnier. Plus, not enough Jay and Silent Bob. AND Silent Bob's line in this movie was HUGE!

Hey, you might like it. I just didn't dig it much.
Thieve's Highway (3) - Pretty good flick, didn't care for the ending, but some pretty impressive stuff. Jarhead (4) - Good flick, stylish, good cinematography and performances.

Went to the Grindhouse Film Festival yesterday, this was the results:
For A Few Dollars More (5) - Great western, pretty stylish, funny, and down-right badass. Coffy (4) - Hey, let's show a whole lot of nudity! Blaxploitation is what they call this picture, and it wasn't half bad. Shogun Assassin (4) - Pretty brutal samurai/revenge picture. I dug it. Zombie (2) - Pretty terrible movie, bad plot, bad acting, bad dialogue. One fantastic gore scene, and one incredibly strange one: a zombie vs. shark fight (I ain't kidding). Clan of the White Lotus (2) - Terrible, terrible kung-fu bullshit. Some ridiculous shit, but great ending (in terms of retardedness). Executions from Shao-Lin (2) - Another terrible kung-fu movie.
Let me tell you something that I found really fucked up. The last two movies on this list, abbreviated to COTWL and EFSL, there is a character played by the same actor. When this dude gets kicked in the groin, he has the uncanny ability to suck the attacker's appendage into his groin, and hold on to it. WHAT? That shit was ffffffucked up. Repeatedly, when he was hit in the junk, he would say "what, can't find it?" FFFUcked up shit, thought I'd share it with you.

Fallen Angels (3) - Pretty random flick, but entertaining, and a nice break from the norm. Donnie Brasco (4) - Good picture, good performances from depp and pacino. The Big Heat (5) - Great noir flick. Pretty strong violence for the time. Some really memorable scenes. Murder, My Sweet (4) - Decent performances and a really good voice-over. Good noir.

Force of Evil (4) - Nice classic noir movie...since we seem to be on the subject. It was sadly blacklisted once the director (writer?) was found out to be a communist allong with the star. Because of this, it was bannished to obscurity. It's fun to see how the script is somewhat written in poetic verse.

Elevator to the Gallows (4) - Pretty entertaining shit, with an interesting twist/concept. A man trapped in an elevator, a predicament that is substantial proof toward the murder he committed, but it also the alibi he needs for the murders he didn't commit. Make sense?

A Simple Plan (5)-This is one of the most intense fucking movies I've seen in a while. I was quite litterally on the edge of my seat. gah...I still have chills.
