and neither did Napolean Dynamite.
The Witness (3)-Pretty damn good. Harrison ford in amish country. The only thing I didn't like was the love story that just came in totally out of left feild.

I love the witness. Except that part you mentioned. I'd give it a 3.5

You know, movies don't always need an epic plot, they are perfectly fine to be subtle. Sideways is a character study about a man who finds more kinship in wine than in his fellow man, until he meets the most compatible woman. It is a fucking comedic love story.
Let's see. Napoleon Dynamite. I can imagine their mentality when they wrote it: oh, wouldn't it be funny if someone got hit in the face with a steak? How about a geeky guy falling in love with a tall black woman? Oh, Oh I got a good one, lets have this dork dance in front of the school. Oh, here's one, lets have a mexican run for president of the school. We have a winner here, morons will cling to this shit.
Sideways cares about the characters in the story, whereas Napoleon Dynamite just throws a bunch of unfunny, pointless scenes together.
I don't understand how you can say Sideways doesn't have a plot. Do you like clerks? What's the plot in that? Any movie can be reduced to "it's just about a bunch of dudes sitting around talking about cut up whores."
You may dislike the movie, but dredge up some better criticism than "it's just about dudes drinking wine and talking about fucking".

The Passion of the Crist could be reduced to "It's just some dude getting tortured for two hours"

Ok, it's the most boring movie I've ever seen in my life. At least in Napolean there's something to laugh about. In Sideways the jokes are few and VERY far between. No one should ever strech "I relate more to wine then to human beings" into two fucking hours, or even more then 10 minutes tops. There are no characters in Sideways. They aren't complicated people. They have no interesting character traits at all. They're just two overweight middle aged men who enjoy their wine and women. Who fucking cares?
Nesferatu (5) - Sweetest movie ever!

All of your criticism holds no ground because you like Napoleon Dynamite, which has a lack of character, plot, and humor.
I say we put this argument to rest, opinions aren't changing, so it is pointless.
Imma have to check Nosferatu out. Did you see the silent one? I know Werner Herzog remade it. Tried to watch it once on tape, but couldn't make it. They have it on dvd in the library, so I'll probably see it soon.
Tree's Lounge (3) - Nothing too spectacular, but I dig buscemi, and this is a decent flick. Near Dark (3) - One of the top vampire movies I've seen, couple inspired moments. Things to do in Denver when You're Dead (2) - ok, so you have good dialogue, but the story is sub-par. Unnecessary romances plague it. The Stranger (3) - decent noir flick.

...since I'm taking a film class I should probobly know what noir is...but I don't. I'm in that class more for the philosophy side. Anyhow, today we watched:....
Life is Beutiful (4)- Damn good movie. I liked it even though it lacked nearly all the Jessy movie traights. It's about this jewish italian dude during early WWII who's family get's taken to a concentration camp and he spends most the movie trying to keep his son convinced that its some kind of game or something...bad description...It's just a good flick see it. My only critique was that nearly the whole thing was in subtitled Italian...made it difficult to watch.

Yeah, I agree that is a really good flick. Pretty funny, and touching too. I couldn't believe the end, made a seagull sad.
Noir is a style of film. Lots of shadows, twisting plots, murderous dames, that kind of stuff. The typical movies are of the detective branch, The Maltese Falcon, Double Indemnity, The Big Sleep, these are examples.

The Woodsman (4) - Great performance by Kevin Bacon. Tough subject matter, handled beautifully.

Wild At Heart (2) - pretty shitty lynch, lots of pointless references and motifs. The Cabinent of Dr. Caligari (2) The Producers (3) - Pretty funny stuff, predicatable though. Dr. No (2) - typical James Bond picture. Akira (2) - starts off well, but ends in the gutter.

The Magnificent Seven (3) - Solid western. Rio Bravo (4) - Character driven western, good stuff. Raging Bull (4) - well-made flick by Scorsese, not the most uplifting shit, but well-done indeed.

Dirty Pretty Things (4) - Pretty good "thriller" without many thrills. Good story and cinematography, though.

After Hours (4) - Scorsese does comedy. Pretty stylish, fairly humerous, pretty black humor though. Grand Canyon (3) - Decent, the dialogue is a little too deliberate I thought. Long Day's Journey into Night (5) - fantastic performances, a heavy fuckin movie though.
Too many movies? Blasphemy.
