I liked Sahara!!!! That's the one where their all lost in the desert after a plane crash right? They were working on the oil rig. Denis Quade....that guy from House...the awesome guy from Indiana Jones...other people.
Because if we're thinking of the same movie I'm going to counter your 1 with a 4!

Well, go ahead and rent that pile of shit, but don't say I didn't warn you. It was fucking terrible. And you're thinking of Flight of the Phoenix, which is a remake.
Blue Velvet (4) - Strange mix of melodrama and masochism, but it is Lynch, so what do you expect? Scanners (2) - had a potentially good plot, but was a little too talky. Pretty badass showdown at the end. The Bicycle Thief (4) - Pretty sad flick. Kid is probably the best child actor I have ever seen.

OH yeah! Ok fine.
Flight of the Phoenix (4) - It was great! Good actors, fun times, happy ending.
So what movie is Sahara? Is that the one with the two guys that find the revolutionary nuclear waste dump which is actually poluting the water and making everyone sick? The two guys go on adventures and they blow up their bosses boat and they work for a company that salvages stuff from the ocean?

Yeah, I believe that is the plot to Sahara. Has Matthew McConaughey, Steve Zahn, and Penelope Cruz in it. I think William Macy also makes an appearance.
Code 46 (2) - looks good, has interesting ideas, but a lack of plot and explanation.

Yeah! I give that movie a 5! So there! I thought it was great! Full of action and really funny. I heart William Macy! This movie SUCKED! First off, according to Mr. Schei (who we've learned wasn't THAT reliable i'll admit) there were only 2 ironclads during the civil war. The CSS Virginia on the confederate side, and the USS Macklamara on the Union side. Both only saw one battle, no ironclads broke the blockade. There was no CSS TEXAS! Secondly, the last half hour is nothing but explosions. The love story between McConnohey and Selma Hiak had NO time to develop. They spent the whole movie fighting and whatnot and just start randomly making out in the end. If fact, the only reason you know they're going to hook up is because she's the ONLY major female character. Thirdly, Steve Zahn served no purpose other than to throw down the occaisionall stupid one liner like, "I lost my hat..." or "what?" after disarming himself of over a dozen guns. Lastly, the movie is riddle with cliches and typical hollywood crap. Fight scenes where the hero would have lost in real life happened often. This movie just sucked...

Frankly, I have no opinion because I didn't bother seeing the movie.
I agree, William Macy is a good actor, especially liked his work in Magnolia, Boogie Nights, and The Cooler.

i he's who I'm thinking of (the dad from Pleasantville, and the Shovler from Mystery Men) then yeah he's a good actor. He just has a very bland part in this movie.

Ok, whatever. I still liked it, I thought it was a fun movie. AND you can't complain about a movie being unrealistic. The first rule we learned in film class is that you can never call a movie 'real'.
ANYWAY....
Sideways (-2) Worst fucking movie ever. It's just like Lost in Translation. A completely pointless movie with no plot where nothing happens about a guy that has no life.

I would have to disagree about Sideways.
That movie is fuckin' hilarious, and has some classic fucking scenes. Paul Giamotti got completely fucked over for not getting an Oscar Nomination for his work in this movie.
In a place where Napoleon Dynamite and Will Ferrel rule, this movie is a breath of fresh air, and is actually funny. Not just mindless, retarded humor.

Napolean Dynamite was funny the first time I saw it...then I couldn't go 2 seconds without hearing "vote for pedro" or some stupid shit and i begun to hate it.
I never saw Sideways, all I know is even the star thought it sucked (saw an interview on the daily show).

I don't like napolean you'd be surprised to know. But Mr. Ferrel is my idol. I have his name tattoo'd on my ass.
(everything but that last part is true)

I doubt Giamotti thought it sucked. I once read that he didn't think he deserved an oscar for it, but that is just modesty. It was a damn fine performance. Regardless of what that fat fuck thought, that is a funny goddamn movie.
Napoleon Dynamite is the most overhyped piece of shit I have ever seen. It is unfunny and pointless. I would rather castrate myself than ever watch that shit again.

Lol! OoooooK. I just got done bitching about not name calling on the politics board after I had called Quinn a movie snob for liking sideways.
Even though you didn't see the full post because I'm re-writing it right now, I'm sorry Quinn.
I'll just leave my opinion at Sideways was a horrible film with no point and Lost in Translation started the aweful trend of pointless 'what is life all about' movies.

I agree Napolean dynamite was overrated. It was kinda funny the first time through, but god damn it, it got blown out of hand. It would be better if I could go a day without hearing somone say "Idiot!" Napolean style.
As for movies about nothing, I thought you liked Dazed and Confused (I didn't. All it says to me is that the 70s sucked). And Waking Life isn't really about anything, but its a great movie.
