I agree Napolean dynamite was overrated. It was kinda funny the first time through, but god damn it, it got blown out of hand. It would be better if I could go a day without hearing somone say "Idiot!" Napolean style. As for movies about nothing, I thought you liked Dazed and Confused (I didn't. All it says to me is that the 70s sucked). And Waking Life isn't really about anything, but its a great movie. It was overrated, but I still like it. Dazed and Confused? You'll have to remind me what that's about.

bassically its about a bunch of high school kids on the last day of school in the mid 1970s. The overall theme is how great and wonderfull high school is...which is a big, fat, lie. High school sucked, as did the 1970s.

Let me say this: Isha, you say Sideways was pointless, but you liked Napoleon Dynamite, and what was the point of that? My point is made.
The Killers (4) - Badass noir flick. Complicated structure and plot, with fuckin' awesome first scene. The Bride on the River Kwai (3) - Decent war flick, nothing exceptional. Being There (3) - Somewhat funny, skewers politics, crazy fucking ending. The Day the Earth Stood Still (5) - Classic Sci-fi. Some really clever moments, and good special effects (besides the giant man in silver garb).

Ok, Just know, I was forced to watch this in film class.
Sliding Doors (3)- This movies is really 2 seperate plots about how different this chick's life turns out from catching/not catching this specific train. In the plot where she catches it, she also catcher her boyfriend cheating. When she doesn't catch, she doesn't catch him blah blah blah. I only didn't give it a 1 because its hard to do 2 movies in one effectively.

Whatever Quinn. Napolean Dynamite was a 'slice of life film'. Sideways was hardly that at all. They didn't do anything.
I liked Sliding Doors! I thought it was neat....so actually maybe I agree with Jessy. It could be that I only liked it because of the form it was presented in.
Grouse Point Blank (4)- It's another boy meets girl and they have a fucked up relationship movie with John Cusack, but I heart all his movies. It's good times and a lot of people get shot.

other than the getting shot part it sounds allmost exactly like High Fidelity without the record store...or Jack Black...which were why I liked that movie...

Way to cop out with that "slice of life" bullshit. Sideways is about characters, instead of a retread of "nerd" movies. Fuck that movie, there is no point. Like my brother said, that entire movie was written for one scene: the dancing scene. It was a pointless, piece of shit. Sideways, however, was actually funny. And actually took some intelligence to write the script. At least Sideways had a plot, as opposed to random scenes thrown together.
The Verdict (4) - Good character for Paul Newman, somewhat implausible ending, but it added weight. Chungking Express (5) - Great, kinetic romance flick, from China. 2 Days In the Valley (3) - nothing special, but pretty funny at times, and entertaining. True Grit (3) - Decent western with John Wayne. Couple great scenes. Aguirre, The Wrath of God (4) - Weird flick, startlingly violent at times, witness the madness.

Meh, time to throw up some Documentaries:
The Filth and the Fury (5)-Its about the Sex Pistols. It shows actual interviews with everyone involved. Even old footage of Sid Vicious and Nancy Spungen being interviewed. If you want a real understanding of this band and the mythology surrounding them, see this movie.
Punk: Attitude (3.5)-A shorter flick about the history of the punk movement in general. Starting with the Proto-punk era of the late 1960's (bands like Iggy and the Stooges, MC5, New York Dolls, Velvet Underground) and flying all the way up to the 1990's with Nirvana (not a punk band, but punk influenced). I love the interviews with everyone from Tommy Ramone to Jello Biafra, but it moves too fast and leaves a bit too much out.
Farheit 9/11 (3)- Hey, a movie that's not about punk. I liked the movie because it bashed on Bush. However, it should be noted that this is a MOCKumentary. Most of what is being presented is opinion. Micheal Moore even said, "The facts in this film are irrefutable, but the opinions are my own". He also forgets to mention that the movie is about 80% opinion. Thus, I give it a 3.

King Kong (3) - Pretty incredible animation. Videodrome (3) - Wow, that's fucked up. Shoot the Piano Player (4) - Pretty badass shit. Ganster style.

Hate (4) - Interesting movie, good camera work and story. Being John Malkovich (4) - Fucking ridiculous, but funny, and original. The Final Cut (2) - Shitty, but sadly so, because had a good plot hidden beneath it, just tried to do too much.

Unforgiven (4) - Really good western. Adam's Rib (3) - Somewhat funny, witty dialogue. Four of the Apocolypse (1) - Fucking terrible, what the hell, Italian westerns are usually good.

I'm not that big on westerns.

I'm beginning to dig the westerns more and more, man. The more I see, the more I like 'em. I reckon my brother got me into it.
Hud (4) - Pretty sad movie, great performance from Paul Newman. Breathless (2) - fuck this shit, nothing special. White Heat (4) - "Made it, ma. Top of the world." Pretty good gangster shit. Sunset Blvd. (3) - decent, good voice-over, didn't much like the actress.

Before the Rain (1) - Foreign film...sheep being born...scared for life
War of the Worlds (2) - Total crap. I would give it a zero but I heart Dakota Fanning and the blood spray near the end was cool. They should have just stuck with the radio program.
Sideways did NOT have a plot! How is two guys drinking wine and talking about fucking a plot?
