I see this thread as a place to post your most recent movie viewing, with a rating of course. I say we make it on a scale between 1 and 5, and since I'm the fuckin man, the scale is 1 to 5. Also, leave a brief description of reasoning.
Hero (3) - pretty good story, great color composition, somewhat flat dialogue though: "I guess you must have spent the last ten years developing a lethal move" Freaks (4) - has one of the creepiest scenes I've seen Gates of Heaven (2) - meh Irreversible (3) - contains two of the most brutal scenes I've seen including a 9 minute - one shot rape scene. I Stand Alone (4) - Same director of Irreversible, pretty similar to Taxi Driver as a matter of fact. Taxi Driver (5) - fucking great. I might buy this bad sucker To Catch a Thief (3) - decent, I guess Suspicion (2) - terrible, terrible fucking ending The Man Who Shot Liberty Valance (4) Good Morning, Vietnam (4) - funny as hell, good job by Robin Williams The Grifters (4) - pretty good noir, good dialogue.

I like the 1 to 5 scale. Nice and clean.
Wedding Crashers (5)- For comedic value. And the material is very quotable, very Anchorman 40 Year old Virgin (5)- Again, the comedic value. Another Anchorman.
Yes, Anchorman would get a fuckin 10 on this list. It is the movie that defined all movies...
Bewitched (3.5)-Was kinda cute, wasn't quite as funny as it could have been. Kinda a lame remake of a tv show.. Kinda not so much about the tv show...

Batman Begins (5)- Huzzah! I loved that movie! It was so rock lobster!! I was only angry that a) there was a ras a'gul but no Talia and b) that they didn't really portray Ras as Middle Eastern (which he is) and there was no lazerus pit. Oh well, I have to give kudos to any Batman movie!
The Dog Factory (5)- We watched this in film class and it was halarious.
Sullivan's Travels (4) - Also from film class. Also very funny. The girl in it just bugged me a little. She was WAY too posh fakey actress.

12 Angry Men (12...er 5) I just watched this classic in Philosophy/Cinema class. It kicked ass. The point of watching it in Philosophy was that we were talking about Epistomology/Skeptism (for those who don't speak philosopher, that's pretty much what we can know for certain or if we can even really know anything). And where everyone else simply accepts the dude as guilty, Henry Fonda managed to find room for doubt.

Speaking of philosophical movies:
What the Bleep do we know (3.95) - It was a pretty decent movie. I liked the kid on the b-ball court because everything wiggles. I also like the ending because it has a good message about feeling good about yourself.

Waking Life (5)- This movie has no plot. Its ALL philosophy. I give it a 5 for provoking allot of thought and having some of the coolest animation i've ever seen. But be warned, if you like in depth plots and character development...this is not the flick for you.

Silent Running (2) - shitty, good special effects though Full Metal Jacket (4) - First half is brilliant, but second doesn't quite live up to it. Quotable as fuck, too. Night of the Living Dead (3) Somewhat tame nowadays, but revolutionary to the genre Mr. Deeds Goes To Town (not that Adam Sandler shit) (3) Mediocre, with a great jury scene toward the end. Play Misty for Me (3) - Clint Eastwood's directorial debut has a pretty routine "crazy bitch" plot, but is still pretty good considering. Interesting kill scene. The Dead Zone (4) - pretty good, suspense/horror/thriller. Walken gives a good performance. A History of Violence (4) - Good flick, interesting themes, and provocative ending. Office Space (4) - funny as hell, can't hate a flick about cubicles with a strictly gangster rap soundtrack.

Slacker (1) less focused and less interesting than waking life. Repo Man (1) Holy fuck, why god did I sit through this shit? The Sting (4) Pretty good caper flick, couple great sequences. 3 Days of the Condor (4) Good political thriller.

Yes, Anchorman would get a fuckin 10 on this list. It is the movie that defined all movies... WHAT?!? I hope you are kidding, because this flick came out last year. You're free to like what you like, but please do not say that some comedy starring Will Ferrel produced in 2004 defined cinema.

Will Ferrel is a Geenus! A damn Geenus!
That said: Million Dollar baby(4) I like it, it's all happy, go underdog, Rocky 1 style, but it loses points for the ending. Maybe it's a 4.5, but since this is an opinion based thing: 4.

Repo Man (1) Holy fuck, why god did I sit through this shit? I heard that was a really good movie. Or maybe it was a different movie about repo men.

Well, in my opinion, it was a giant piece of shit. So big, in fact, that it hangs out the toilet and spreads to the floor. It's not really about repo men, it's about government conspiracies, aliens, cars, and a whole bunch of random shit that makes for one agonizing movie.

Toys (5) - I love Joan Cusack! That was a great movie. I missed the ending though. So, actually that ranking may or may not be lower. I usually base my like of movies and books on the ending.

Young Frankestein (4) It only gets a 4 because it didn't have Mel Brooks in it (though he did direct) and Gene Wilder could have been funnier.
Heartbreakers (2) Stupid ass predictable chick flick posing as a crime comedy. I watched this with Riley and predicted nearly every major event no less than 10 minutes before it actually happened.
Saharah (1) Why in god did they make this? Its nothing but a string of cliches.
I felt I needed to post a couple flicks I didn't like.
Oh! And Will Ferrel is funny, but definately not a genius (and certainly not a geenus, whatever that is)
